What is Planar


PLANAR (planar) is a type of electronic component and means a flat element.

PLANAR technology is one of the semiconductor manufacturing technologies used to create highly integrated electronic circuits.

PLANAR technology is used in the process of making semiconductors. Generally, circuits are formed by optical lithography after coating an oxide film on a silicon wafer (semiconductor substrate).

Compared to the method of using a multi-layer structure to create a circuit, the PLANAR technology has advantages such as a simple circuit creation process and increased circuit accuracy.

PLANAR is used in various electronic components, typically transistors such as MOSFET (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor), diodes, and ICs.

PLANAR technology plays an important role in enabling the performance improvement and high-speed of electronic products.
