What is EDGE

In electronic components, 'edge' can be used in many meanings. It is commonly used to mean:

Edge Trigger: A term used in logic circuits or timing systems, it refers to a triggering method designed to operate when a specific signal or input occurs on a positive edge or a negative edge. Edge triggers are used to trigger or time circuit actions by detecting changes in a signal at a specific point in time.

Edge Connector: A term used in connector design, usually referring to contacts or pins located on a flat surface or on a printed circuit board (PCB). Generally, the contact part has a sharp shape, so the connector is designed to be easily inserted or removed.

Edge Effect: A term used in various electronic components, it refers to a specific effect that occurs at a specific location or boundary in a device or circuit. For example, it also refers to special physical phenomena that occur at junction interfaces in semiconductor devices.

Leading Edge / Trailing Edge: In terms of time, the beginning of the waveform is called the Leading Edge, and the end of the waveform is called the Trailing Edge. These edges indicate the beginning and end of a signal and play an important role in detecting signal state changes in digital systems.

'Edge' is used in various ways as an important concept in electronic component and circuit design, and has meaning in various application fields such as signal processing, timing, circuit operation, and data transmission.
