What is REGULATOR


A regulator is an electronic device that is used to maintain a constant output voltage or current, despite changes in input voltage, load resistance, or temperature.

Regulators are widely used in power supplies, battery charging circuits, and other applications where a stable voltage or current is required.

There are several types of voltage regulators, including linear regulators, switching regulators, and LDO (low-dropout) regulators.

Linear regulators work by controlling the amount of current that is drawn from the input source and fed to the load, so that the output voltage remains constant.

Switching regulators use pulse-width modulation (PWM) to convert the input voltage into a series of pulses, which are then filtered and regulated to produce the output voltage.
