What is Reference

In electronic components, Reference refers to a reference signal used for comparison with other signals.

That is, a signal used as a reference for measuring or manipulating the magnitude, frequency, phase, etc., of another signal.

In electronic components, references are used for a variety of purposes.

For example, in an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), the Reference determines the ADC's operating range.

The higher the reference, the wider the input range of the ADC, the lower the reference, the narrower the input range of the ADC.

Also, in digital signal processing, a reference is used to scale an input signal or precisely match two or more signals.

References come in many forms.

For example, voltage references are usually provided as fixed values.

However, the temperature reference is mainly generated using resistance and voltage inside the IC chip, and a dedicated circuit is required for stable temperature control.

In addition, the signal reference must be extracted by time-series signal or signal analysis for a certain precision, and a precise driving device and analysis device are required for high accuracy.

Reference plays a very important role in electronic components and is used for various purposes.

Reference is a very important factor in accuracy and stability, so it should be carefully considered in the design stage.
