What is STEP-DOWN

In electronic components, STEP-DOWN means a circuit that converts an input voltage to a lower output voltage.

These circuits are also called step-down converters or boost converters.

Step-down converters are also commonly referred to as DC-DC converters.

When the input voltage is fixed, a switching circuit is used to convert the voltage to regulate the output voltage.

At this time, the switching circuit uses a high-speed switch that switches the voltage and a circuit that controls the switching frequency.

Step-down converters are mainly used in mobile devices, battery chargers, LED lighting, etc.

This plays a huge role in improving power efficiency and battery life.
